About
Dr Neil Wylie is a Queensland-trained general surgeon consulting and operating from Noosa Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital.
Dr Wylie completed his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) following formal training in Queensland. His advanced subspecialty training was completed overseas in upper gastrointestinal (UGI), liver and pancreatic surgery in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom, providing him with broad exposure to complex surgical disease and modern operative techniques.
For the past eight years, Dr Wylie has worked as a general surgeon in Toowoomba, where his mixed practice included primary and revisional bariatric procedures, and the management of obesity-related disease together with specialised dietetic services. He is known for his approachable manner, clear communication, and genuine commitment to supporting patients and their support networks through often complex health decisions.
Dr Wylie’s clinical interests include reflux surgery and gallbladder disease, with a strong focus on evidence-based, patient-centred care. He continues to maintain close links with colleagues at The Wesley Hospital in Brisbane, ensuring his liver and pancreas practice remains aligned with current best practice and multidisciplinary care.
Dr Wylie and his wife chose to base his practice on the Sunshine Coast long term for access to the water, family and beach time with his 2 Labrador dogs Paddy and Kiwi. He is committed to providing high-quality surgical care locally, strengthening specialist services for both general practitioners and the wider community.
