Clinical Practice
Associate Professor Nigel McArdle is a specialist sleep and respiratory physician at the Department of Pulmonary Physiology & Sleep Medicine at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth. He also holds a research and teaching position within the School of Human Sciences at the University of Western Australia and has worked with the team at the Centre for Sleep Science for over 10 years. Nigel has published approximately 50 original research publications which have been cited over 3,500 times.
Background & Training
Nigel completed his undergraduate medical training at UWA, his specialty training with the RACP and his postgraduate MD with Edinburgh University. He won the P.B. Smith Prize for contributions to post-graduate activities in his role as teaching registrar at Fremantle Hospital. He has supervised many advanced medicine trainees and honours students, co-supervised 4th year UWA medical student projects, and co-ordinated the undergraduate medical course for UWA medical students. Associate Professor McArdle has also been awarded several national competitive grants including four NHMRC projects grants and a Raine Clinician Fellowship.
