Dr D’Souza is passionate about understanding each person’s story and working collaboratively to support their improved mental health, recovery and wellbeing. He has a deep respect for the challenges and difficulties each person faces and their unique recovery journey, and feels both grateful and privileged to be able to help people who are entrusted to his care. His approach is person-centred, strength focused and evidence-based, drawing on a biopsychosocial and culturally informed framework, with a focus on helping people optimise their overall health and fulfil their potential for a better quality of life on their terms. Dr D'Souza has strong expertise in supporting people whose mental health is impacted by complex physical illness and working with youth. Dr D'Souza has worked across many different mental health and psychiatric settings, but has extensive specialised experience in youth mental health and consultation-liaison psychiatry services and has held academic appointments with WSU and UNSW. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in teaching, supervising trainee doctors and service improvement.
