About

Dr Eek is an experienced medical oncologist with a strong background in clinical care, research, education and clinical trials. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) cum laude at the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1988. He subsequently obtained a Master of Medicine (MMed) cum laude from the same institution and was awarded Fellowship of the College of Physicians of South Africa (FCP) in 1995, receiving the Helen Suzman Medal. 

 

Dr Eek has been a member of the American Society of Oncology since 1995 and joined the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) in the United States in the same year.

 

He relocated to Australia in 2005 and was appointed Director of Clinical Trials at Liverpool Hospital in 2006. In 2007, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and was appointed Director of the Department of Medical Oncology at Liverpool Hospital. In 2008, Dr Eek moved to the Albury Wodonga region and joined Border Medical Oncology, where he later became a Director of the Border Medical Oncology Research Unit.

 

Dr Eek has extensive experience in clinical trials, medical education, training, clinical audit and supervision. He has contributed to more than 100 national and international peer-reviewed publications and presentations. He is a member of the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA).

Dr Eek is currently consulting from 13 Yalandra Court, West Albury, and is a valued member of our AWPH oncology team, contributing to the delivery of comprehensive and essential oncology care to the regional community.
