About

Dr Rob Cooper is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in joint reconstruction and sports knee surgery. He completed his orthopaedic training in Newcastle at John Hunter Hospital, a Level 1 trauma centre, where he gained extensive experience managing complex orthopaedic conditions and acute injuries.

Following this, Rob undertook sub-specialty fellowship training in arthroplasty and knee ligament reconstruction in Sydney, further refining his skills in joint replacement and soft tissue knee surgery. He then completed a prestigious robotic arthroplasty fellowship at the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland—the highest-volume arthroplasty centre in the United Kingdom—where he developed advanced techniques in computer-assisted and robotic joint replacement.

Rob’s practice focuses on hip and knee joint replacements, including partial knee replacements, as well as knee ligament reconstruction, meniscal surgery, and patellofemoral ligament reconstruction. He also maintains a strong interest in orthopaedic trauma, providing comprehensive care across both elective and acute settings.

Interests include:

  • Joint Replacement of the hip and knee
