Dr Robert Grant is a cardiothoracic surgeon who completed his cardiothoracic training at Royal North Shore Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, John Hunter Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospitals. He performs a wide range of adult cardiac and thoracic procedures including coronary bypass surgery, mitral and aortic valve repairs and replacement, aortic root and arch surgery as well as thoracoscopic (VATS) lung resections (lobectomy, segmentectomy).
Dr Grant has a particular passion for total arterial anaortic off pump coronary surgery. During his training he was also mentored in a range of minimally invasive procedures. These include minimally invasive coronary artery surgery (MIDCAB), sternal sparing valve surgery (mini mitral/RAT AVR) as well as minimally invasive thoracic surgery (VATS/robotic) thoracic surgery.
As Australia’s first Indigenous cardiothoracic surgeon, he also has a special interest in Indigenous health as well as mentoring a future generation of Indigenous and non-Indigenous doctors.
