About

Dr Mihrshahi has special interest in upper gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, with 20 years’ experience at consultant level in diagnosing and treating conditions related to the gallbladder and bile ducts, liver, pancreas, stomach, spleen and hiatal hernia. He enjoys the challenge of assessing, recommending and performing the best treatment for patients, and getting them back to baseline so they can get back on with their lives.

Sams main practice is based in Sydney at Macquarie University Hospital where I have been since returning from the UK in 2011, and I hold VMO appointments at Macquarie University Hospital, Ryde Hospital (Department Head for General Surgery), Northern Beaches Hospital, and now Southern Highlands Private Hospital.

Education

Dr Mihrshahi completed his undergraduate medical degree with Honours at the University of Sydney in 1997, and trained in General Surgery in Newcastle and Sydney, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2005. He then completed 2 years of Fellowship training in Upper Gastrointestinal and HPB Surgery, firstly at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, and was then awarded the Lister Fellowship in Pancreaticobiliary Surgery at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
