Dr Kathurusinghe performs high-volume complex gynaecological surgery across both public and private hospitals, including advanced laparoscopic and robotic procedures. She has undertaken advanced training in minimally invasive and complex gynaecological surgery at nationally and internationally recognised centres of excellence, including Oxford University Hospitals (UK).
Her clinical practice focuses on the management of complex and multifactorial gynaecological conditions, including advanced endometriosis surgery involving bowel and extrapelvic sites. She also performs fertility-optimising surgery, including procedures aimed at improving reproductive outcomes prior to assisted conception, and works closely with fertility specialists to support co-ordinated, individualised care. Dr Shami works within multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive assessment, careful surgical planning, and optimal outcomes for patients with complex presentations.
With additional expertise in neuropelveology and the integration of emerging surgical technologies, Dr Shami is known for her meticulous surgical technique and sound clinical judgement. Surgery is recommended only when appropriate, with each treatment pathway carefully tailored to the individual and aligned with best practice.
