Dr Sheila Rahman

Dr Sheila Rahman is a specialist geriatrician offering inpatient and outpatient services across the Illawarra region. She provides holistic, evidence-based care for older adults, with a focus on improving function, independence, and long-term outcomes.

Her areas of clinical expertise include:

• Perioperative risk assessment and optimisation for older adults undergoing elective or urgent surgery
• Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) to support diagnostic clarity, medication review, care planning, and multidisciplinary input
• Memory and cognitive assessment for suspected dementia or cognitive decline
• Falls risk assessment and prevention strategies
• Bone health and fracture prevention, including osteoporosis management and secondary fracture risk evaluation
• Polypharmacy and medication review, addressing the challenges of managing multiple medications in older adults to improve safety and effectiveness
