About
Dr Sophie Driver graduated with a Doctor of Medicine with Distinction from the University of New South Wales in 2015 and later completed a Masters of Internal Medicine with Distinction at the University of Sydney in 2019. She attained her FRACP in Neurology in 2023 after completing her specialist training at St Vincent’s Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) in Sydney.
Dr Driver undertook a neuroimmunology fellowship at RNSH, gaining subspecialty expertise in multiple sclerosis (MS) and a broad range of neuroinflammatory disorders. She has been a staff specialist at RNSH for the last three years, where she had led the MS and neuroimmunology clinic and has played a key role in developing the hospital’s autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplant service for MS.
Dr Driver has published over thirteen papers in leading peer-reviewed journals and has worked in private practice at Sharp Neurology and Shire Neurology. She is also a consultant neurologist at North Shore Private Hospital and St George Private Hospital.
Having completed part of her training in Port Macquarie, Sophie is passionate about improving access to specialist neurological care in regional and remote communities. While her subspecialty focus is in neuroimmunology, she enjoys all aspects of general neurology and has extensive experience in epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders including myasthenia gravis, movement disorders, migraine and headache, neuropathy, functional neurological disorder, and chronic pain management. Through her work at RNSH, home to one of Sydney’s busiest stroke units, she has also developed subspecialty expertise in acute stroke management, including thrombolysis and interventional neuroradiology referral.
Dr Driver will be commencing consultations in Port Macquarie from June 2026.
