About

Dr Stefan Antoniou is an Australian trained Urological Surgeon and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, with subspecialty fellowship training in robotic oncology. Based in Far North Queensland, he consults in Cairns and Mackay and has developed a practice focused on robotic cancer surgery and minimally invasive urological care.

With more than 15 years’ experience in robotic surgery, Dr Antoniou has performed over 1,500 robotic cases. He utilises multiple robotic platforms and is committed to delivering precise, patient-centred care supported by experienced multidisciplinary teams in both Cairns and Mackay.

Dr Antoniou completed his Robotic Oncology Fellowship at Greenslopes Private Hospital and has continued to contribute to the development of robotic surgery across Australia and internationally. He is actively involved in surgical education, mentoring and proctoring, supporting surgeons and surgical teams across urology, paediatric surgery, gynaecology and general surgery. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at James Cook University, reflecting his ongoing commitment to teaching, training and regional medical education.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Antoniou is the Director of Australian Clinical Trials and Research and serves as the Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry site lead for Far North Queensland.

Dr Antoniou contributes to state and national professional committees and has extensive experience in medical governance, audit, risk management and credentialing. He is widely published, regularly invited to speak on advanced robotic surgery, and is known for his commitment to innovation, education and collaborative models of care.
