Dr Stephen Ackland

Prof Stephen Ackland is a senior medical oncologist with over 30 years experience, with interests in:

• general oncology diagnosis and medical management
• gastrointestinal cancers (all types, including Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumours),
• adrenal, head and neck, and brain cancers,
• clinical trials.

All types of referrals accepted.

Professor Ackland has played a key role in organisation, harmonisation and enhancements of translational and clinical research locally, on a state basis and nationally. He is Director of Hunter Cancer Research Alliance, and a current Board member of Australasian Gastro-intestinal Trials Group. He is passionate about cancer research including clinical trials, and cancer pharmacology.
