About

Dr Vivian Yu was born and raised in Melbourne. She graduated from The University of Melbourne School of Medicine in 2002. During her studies she also gained experience in general surgery at the Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong.

 

After graduating and completing her internship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Vivian took on her residency as a medical officer at the Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide. Vivian then returned to Melbourne to complete general surgical training through the Alfred Hospital.

 

In 2011, Vivian was awarded her Fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and followed this with extensive post-fellowship subspecialty training in general, breast and endocrine surgery at Bendigo Health and Austin Health (Victoria) and Waikato District Health Board (New Zealand). During this time, Vivian continued to strengthen her skills and expertise in the areas of elective and emergency general surgery.

 

Vivian also has a keen interest in surgical education. She is a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators and regularly instructs on courses for surgical trainees through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and General
Surgeons Australia.

 

Vivian considers that understanding the specific needs of each individual to be of utmost importance and is dedicated to providing the best possible care in every instance.
