About

Dr Adam Skidmore is a General and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon with clinical interests in upper gastrointestinal, bariatric and metabolic surgery. He also provides general surgical care for conditions including gallbladder disease, hernias and bowel cancer.

Dr Skidmore completed surgical training in Australia and the United Kingdom and has undertaken further professional development in bariatric and metabolic surgery. During his time in the United Kingdom, he worked with bariatric surgeon Mr Shaw Somers and gained experience in primary and revisional bariatric procedures.

His bariatric practice includes gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy procedures, as well as the assessment and surgical management of selected patients who have previously undergone bariatric surgery. Treatment recommendations are based on each patient’s clinical circumstances, previous procedures and individual healthcare needs.

Dr Skidmore also manages patients with conditions affecting the stomach and oesophagus, including gastric and oesophageal cancers. Where clinically appropriate and within his scope of practice, surgical management may include minimally invasive techniques and lymph-node resection.

He participates in multidisciplinary cancer meetings and works with other medical specialists and healthcare professionals to support coordinated treatment planning.

In addition to upper gastrointestinal, bariatric and cancer surgery, Dr Skidmore performs general surgical procedures for gallbladder disease and hernias and contributes to emergency surgical care where required.

Alongside his medical and surgical qualifications, Dr Skidmore holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Health Services Management, with interests in healthcare operations and supply-chain management.
