Mr Augusto (Gus) Gonzalvo

Mr Gonzalvo is a Neurosurgeon with a clinical focus in Spinal Surgery. He is one of the very few surgeons in Australia to have been trained in combined neurosurgery and orthopaedic spinal fellowships for three years.

His areas of expertise are microsurgery and keyhole surgery of the spine, complex reconstructive interventions for spinal fractures and deformity, as well as congenital malformations of the craniovertebral junction.

Mr Gonzalvo performs more than 300 spinal procedures every year, including keyhole decompression and microdiscectomy, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, cervical and lumbar decompression, lumbar fusion, spinal fractures and tumours, spinal deformity and microsurgery of the craniovertebral junction.

The result of his research has been published in the highest-impact journals of his specialty (Spine, Neurosurgery, and Journal of Neurosurgery).
