Mr George Koufogiannis

Mr Koufogiannis completed his medical training at the University of Sydney and his post graduate qualifications in Victoria and NSW, culminating in the award of FRACS (Urology).

George completed his years of advanced training concentrating on urological cancers with focus on minimally invasive surgical techniques. In addition, George has extensive training on male voiding dysfunction, laser prostate surgery and stone surgery. His fellowship year was centred on advanced laparoscopic techniques, implant surgery and open complex urological cancers. His post fellowship training has been in robotic surgery at world renowned centres in robotic surgery -  University of Southern California, USA and Asan University in Seoul, Korea.

 Upon returning to Australia George was proctored by high volume robotic surgeons for 2 years before assuming independent robotic cases. With over 500 cases as a primary surgeon, proctor or assistant,  George is now an advanced proctor for Da Vinci and has travelled around Australia  proctoring newly qualified robotic surgeons and robotic surgeons wanting to upskill.

George is actively involved in teaching the next generation of surgeons and is a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators. He also consistently participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, audits, and radiology and morbidity meetings.

George is also on several committees including the Urology representative on the medical advisory committee at Beleura private,  the robotic steering committee of management private in addition to Theatre advisory committees at Knox.

Mr. Koufogiannis speaks Greek including medical terminology.

George equally welcomes public and private patients and is available to see urgent patients within 24 hours.
