Dr Richard Dallalana is a Melbourne-based orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in the diagnosis and surgical management of shoulder and elbow conditions. His areas of expertise include arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction for sports injuries, rotator cuff repair, tendon and ligament procedures of the elbow, and joint replacement surgery for arthritis. His practice incorporates computer-assisted techniques to support accuracy in implant positioning, and he has also undertaken training in knee surgery through international fellowships.
Dr Dallalana graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne in 1993 and completed his specialist orthopaedic training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. His post-graduate training included fellowships in arthroscopy and sports medicine at the University of Alberta in Canada, upper limb surgery at St Mary’s and Ravenscourt Park Hospitals in London, and knee surgery at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Dallalana is involved in research, education, and leadership. He directs a Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship program, coordinates clinical research projects with the University of Melbourne, and contributes to the medical device sector through design input and education. He is Secretary of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia, and Immediate Past-President of the Victorian Shoulder and Elbow Society (VSES).
