Clinical Practice
Prof Krish Ragunath is a UK trained Specialist Gastroenterologist and has a wealth of experience over two decades treating all gastroenterological disorders. He has a special interest and expertise in managing indigestion, acid reflux, Barrett’s oesophagus, peptic ulcers, swallowing disorders including achalasia, pancreatic and bowel disorders including bowel cancer screening colonoscopy. Krish has a passion for patient centered care. He involves his patients and their family in the entire patient’s journey of health and wellbeing. He is a firm believer in Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROM) and Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREM) in benchmarking health care delivery.
Background & Training
Krish Ragunath moved from Nottingham University Hospital, UK to Australia in 2019 after being appointed as Professor of Medicine at Curtin University Medical School, and as Consultant Gastroenterologist at Royal Perth Hospital. Krish teaches medical students at Curtin Medical School and supervises PhD students. Other Qualifications obtained overseas include (MD, DNB, MPhil, FRCP Edin, FRCP Lond, FASGE, FJGES).
Research & Publications
He currently chairs the World Endoscopy Organisation Research committee. His research interests include advanced endoscopic imaging of the GI Tract, Endoscopic Ultrasound guided interventions, pancreatic cancer, Barrett’s oesophagus and minimally invasive endoscopic therapy of early GI neoplasia. Krish has co-edited the British Society of Gastroenterology Barrett’s oesophagus guidelines. He has authored / co-authored over 150 peer reviewed publications and written 4 textbook chapters with over 12,000 citations.
