PROF PETER CISTULLI

Peter Cistulli is Professor of Sleep Medicine at the University of Sydney, and Director of the Sleep Investigation Unit in the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Royal North Shore Hospital. 

He is also a director of the Sleep and Breathing Specialist Centre at the North Shore Health Hub: http://www.sleepandbreathing.com.au

He is a consultant respiratory and sleep medicine physician with 30 years' experience in clinical and laboratory aspects of Sleep Medicine, spanning both respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders. 

He leads a strongly interdisciplinary and integrated clinical research programme across Royal North Shore Hospital and the Charles Perkins Centre (University of Sydney) that spans the mechanisms of sleep-disordered breathing and novel treatment approaches. This has been achieved through the establishment of multiple successful collaborations in Australia and overseas. His research programme has been largely funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia, and he has received numerous national and international awards for his ground-breaking work.. 

He is a former President of the Australian Sleep Association and a former board director of the Sleep Health Foundation, whose mission is to raise community awareness of the negative impact of untreated sleep disorders and poor sleep behaviours on health, safety, productivity and quality of life.
