Background & Training:
One of the most experienced psychiatrists in the WA Health system, Hans is a Professor of Psychiatry at UWA and JHC. After graduating from UWA, Hans spent the first part of his career at Royal Perth Hospital before taking up positions at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Graylands Hospital. In 2008, Hans started work as a consultant psychiatrist at JHC before being appointed the head of department in 2014. Hans has an interest in the relationship between mental illness and circadian heart
rate. He is embarking on a study involving GPs to determine the usefulness of circadian heart rate in the evaluation of a person’s response to antidepressant medication.
