Information about the former Orange Private Hospital

Orange Private Hospital was acquired by Ramsay Health Care, Australia’s largest private hospital operator, in July 2023. Ramsay plans to rebrand the Hospital as Ramsay Surgical Centre Orange.

We will continue to perform surgical procedures in the same location, the Bloomfield Medical Centre, for the ongoing benefit of the community, doctors and employees.

We expect Ramsay Surgical Centre Orange will become a short-stay hospital for patients undergoing treatments who do not require an overnight stay. The concept of day surgery is based upon minimising the disruption to your normal life. Any patients requiring overnight stays will likely be treated at our nearby Dudley Private Hospital.

Ramsay Health Care has been proud to serve the Central West community since we began operating the 108-year-old Dudley Private Hospital in 2005. We are also proud to contribute $11.5 million to the local economy each year.

We are passionate about providing regional and rural residents with access to high quality health care, and we welcome the opportunity to enhance our service offering even further through Ramsay Surgical Centre Orange.

Ramsay has almost 60 years of experience in building and operating hospitals. We employ more than 33,000 people across the nation and have just been voted as one of Australia’s top 10 most desirable workplaces in 2023.

As we transition from being known as Orange Private Hospital to Ramsay Surgical Centre Orange, there will be some changes which come into effect straight away and others which will take a little longer.

For a time, you will continue to see some signage, forms and email addresses containing the Orange Private Hospital name and/or logo, while we change over to our new branding. There are also a number of IT systems which we will be migrating over to our Ramsay systems. The aspects we are implementing as a priority include the Ramsay patient admission system to ensure a smooth and efficient process for patients.

We will continue to update this website as more information becomes available to share.

Thank you for choosing Ramsay Health Care to support you along your health care journey.

Patient information

Preparation for your surgery begins well before the day of your operation, and we will be with you every step of the way – from the day you book your surgery until the day of your operation – to make sure that you have everything you need to be confident during your stay with us.

At Orange Private Hospital we have formalised a simple Admission to Discharge (A to D) Plan specific to your procedure/operation, covering:

  • Your Admission
  • Your Stay
  • Your Discharge

Preadmission is the first step, and an important part of your hospital care. This step includes completing a Patient Registration Form, a Health Questionnaire and a Consent Form. It’s important to submit these preadmission forms at least 7 days prior to your procedure. You can deliver them in person or by courier, scan and email, fax, or post (using the reply-paid envelope provided). We will then review your details and medical history, and get in touch if we require any additional information. If sending by post, please ensure you allow at least two weeks for postage. If using email or fax, please remember to bring the original forms with you on your admission to hospital.

We will notify you of your admission time by SMS or email on the business day before your procedure. If we do not have a mobile telephone number for you, we will telephone you on your landline. Pre-admission staff will call you on the working day prior to your admission to confirm your admission time & fasting times and any other details required.

It’s also important to bring an up-to-date list of your current medications with you for your hospital visit. You can obtain this from your General Practitioner or pharmacist.
