OPENING CEREMONY
The Donvale Wembley Reserve Community Therapy Garden
has been officially opened, thanks to a collaboration between
Donvale Rehabilitation Hospital, Manningham Council, and
the Manningham Kiwanis Club.
The garden beds and therapy space are located next to the
hospital, providing a place for patients to
participate in meaningful activities and access an area for
relaxation and socialisation.
The local community are welcome to share the facilities
and become involved in the garden.

OPEN HEART TRIP
TO BOLIVIA
An experienced team from Westmead Private Hospital has returned from Bolivia where they performed cardiac
surgery for 10 patients through Open Heart International.
Dr Ian Nicholson (Cardiothoracic Surgeon), Jen Evans (Cardiac Scrub), Rona Steel (Perfusionist) and Cathyrine
Dominguez (Anaesthetic nurse) were part of a team of 13 who travelled to Cochabamba, Bolivia.
The group worked collaboratively to overcome challenges including language barriers, and unfamiliar locations.
The team said the experience gave them a greater appreciation of the quality health care available in Australia.
CYCLING SUCCESS
Joondalup Health Campus registered nurse Fiona
Purdie, who works on the Telethon Children’s Ward,
was recently part of a team of cyclists who raised
$361,000 during a charity ride from Cottesloe Beach
to Newcastle Beach.
Along with her husband, Graham, and 23 others,
Fiona cycled more than 3,400 kilometres to raise
money for children living in poverty, via the charity
Compassion.
Some 385 million children live in extreme poverty
around the world.
