My name is Steve and I’ve worked at Strathfield Private Hospital for 4 years and 4 months.

Describe your job without using a position title?

Ensuring the day-to-day operations and building facilities run smoothly for all patients, professors/doctors, nurses and all those in our care facility. Often a balancing act juggling the in-house hands-on repairs vs delegating various jobs out to contractors and overseeing their activities in a safe, speedy and cost-efficient manner.

What motivates you and why?

The daily motivation is driven by ensuring the hospital assets in the field stay on-line, from air conditioning to plumbing, to electrical, to nurse calls and patient TV’s, every day is different and brings a new challenge.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Fighter Jet Pilot – as I would be taking control of the most advanced ultimate flying speed machine in the sky.

What does the Year of Health and Care Workers mean to you?

The appreciation, gratitude, support and solidarity for all those involved in health and care, especially during the test of nerves and courage for frontline workers during this Covid 19 health pandemic.

What would you say to inspire future generations of workers in health care?

Continue to work for the cause, continue to be that bridge, as our job is to assist in the healing of the hurting, lift the fallen, and restore the broken.
