My name is Carmela and I’ve worked at Hillcrest Rockhampton Private Hospital for 10 months.

Describe your job without using a position title?

I lead a team of allied health professionals to assist a diverse range of patients to restore movement and function in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

What motivates you and why?

Being able to contribute to positive change in patients function and improving their quality of life. I enjoy seeing and hearing reports of patients getting back to the things they want to do, often things they haven’t been able to do for quite some time.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

To be fluent in multiple languages.

What does the Year of Health and Care Workers mean to you?

I believe the year of the health care worker provides recognition and appreciation for what we do every day, especially in difficult times.

What would you say to inspire future generations of workers in health care?

Working in health care is both challenging and rewarding. You can make a positive change to other people’s lives in a very diverse industry with so many individual opportunities.
