VIC

My name is Michael and I’ve worked for Ramsay Health Care’s Corporate IT Services (based at St Kilda Road Offices – VIC) for 14 years.

Describe your job without using a position title?

My role is to provide Ramsay Health Care staff with Information Technology support and services. We are the first point of contact when raising IT related issues and requests. We are often known as the “IT Guy/Girl” around the hospital.

I work alongside a wider group of IT Teams, which includes Systems, Networking, IT Security, Applications, and IT Project Office. Together, we provide IT Services to Ramsay Health Care hospitals and corporate offices. We continually maintain and improve our systems to provide Ramsay Health Care with an IT Infrastructure that’s advanced, reliable, and secure.

What motivates you and why?

Seeing the end results of good teamwork and leading by example. My kids. There is nothing better than seeing them after a long day’s work. The excitement in their faces when seeing you is priceless.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I would like to try Trail Mountain Biking, to take my bike skills to the next level. From what I’ve seen, you need to make quick and precise decisions as some of the trails can come with unexpected bumps and turns. I think that would be exciting!

What does the Year of Health and Care Workers mean to you?

To me, the global pandemic highlighted the importance and vital roles of all Health Care Workers. Their resilience, hard work and dedication to patient care and the greater community during the most challenging of times is incomparable. It is an honour to play a part as IT Support to the Health Care Workers, especially during the times we were called on to assist with Covid19 related activities.

What would you say to inspire future generations of workers in health care?

Working for Ramsay Health Care is like being part of a big family. We all work together as a team and it doesn’t matter if you are a visiting “IT Guy” at the hospital. You are always welcomed with a smile and open arms.
