VIC

My name is Neil and I’ve worked at Warringal Private Hospital for 7 years.

Describe your job without using a position title?

I make the environment safe and appear clean and well maintained for patients and visitors. There’s nothing worse when you look around and see linen bags piled up and I get to help fix that.

What motivates you and why?

I enjoy the responsibility of performing my duties with the support and backing of the team. It’s a busy job and I love the satisfaction of a job well done and making a difference.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Piano. I’ve always wanted to learn. I play the drums but have always loved music and would like to learn any musical instrument.

What does the Year of Health and Care Workers mean to you?

The health system has many layers of personnel behind the scenes, from cleaning to the kitchen, it’s good to recognise everyone who contributes.

What would you say to inspire future generations of workers in health care?

Regardless of your abilities, there’s a job for everyone in the health system. We will always need people that care and can make a difference.
