My name is Jean-Luc Kouakou and I’ve worked at Glengarry Private Hospital for 5 years.

Describe your job without using a position title?

My job description is to provide support and services to meet the patients’ needs, which can include cleaning, catering, making beds, provide equipment to ward and bed areas.

What motivates you and why?

My motivations are:

  • Learning new things for example during the covid-19 training, we learned how to be able to control the virus.
  • Coming up with creative ideas to improve my jobs or make something new.
  • Working well as part of a team
  • Sharing my experience with new staff to success.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

To learn to be a paramedic, to make a difference in my community and be part of a Team of Life, also never stop learning.

What does the Year of Health and Care Workers mean to you?

Year of Health and Care workers mean to me recognise and commemorate all Health and Care workers who have lost their life during the pandemic.

What would you say to inspire future generations of workers in health care?

To inspire future generation of workers in health care, teach them and show them they are making a difference.
