Dr Tarana Lucky is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a focus on Gynaecology. She is an Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon with particular focus in the areas of Minimally Invasive Techniques and Robotic Gynaecological Surgeries. Tarana has an interest in managing women with abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroid diseases, chronic pelvic pain and Endometriosis using a multidisciplinary patient-centred care model.

Dr Tarana Lucky is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists with an interest in managing women with abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroid diseases, chronic pelvic pain and Endometriosis using a multidisciplinary patient-centred care model. She is an AGES trained Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon with particular experience in Minimally Invasive Techniques and Robotic Gynaecological Surgeries.
She currently has a public appointment as a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Royal Women’s Hospital (Melbourne). She is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne. She is currently operating at Frances Perry House and also affiliated with Cabrini and Epworth healthcare. Tarana completed her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in Victoria and Queensland. Subsequently, she received a 2-year advanced fellowship at the Royal Women’s Hospital (Melbourne) where she gained further experience in Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery including Advanced Laparoscopy, Hysteroscopy and Robotics. This prestigious fellowship (commonly known as the AGES fellowship) is awarded by the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society (AGES). Most recently she received the prestigious Brown Craig Travelling Scholarship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. This scholarship has enabled Tarana to gain further training in Robotic Gynaecological Surgeries in managing complex endometriosis and large uterine fibroids. In New York, Tarana worked with two of the world’s most renowned experts in Robotic Gynaecology- Professor Arnold Advincula at Columbia and Associate Professor Kathy Huang at NYU Langone Health. As part of this travel fellowship, she visited France where she worked with another reputed international endometriosis expert, Professor Horace Roman at the Tivoli-Ducos Clinic in Bordeaux and gained an in-depth understanding of how to optimise care for women suffering from chronic pelvic pain secondary to severe endometriosis. In addition to her clinical experience, Tarana has extensive research and academic experience in the field of Gynaecology. She is a well-published and highly cited academic with a PhD and two Masters (Master of Health Management and Master of Public Health) from the University of New South Wales, Sydney. She is a recipient of multiple Australian and international awards for her clinical, research and academic excellence including several research grants, Medtronic’s best oral communication at the AGES ASM, a PhD scholarship through the prestigious Australian Research Council linkage grant and the Australian Development Scholarship through AusAID for her Master's Degrees. She has delivered presentations at multiple national and international conferences. Tarana is passionate about producing quality and meaningful research that has practical implications for women suffering from chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, and abnormal uterine bleeding. She continues to lead and supervise multiple research projects including randomised clinical trials. Tarana strongly believes in patient-centred care that is holistic and guided by our patients’ needs and optimised by active input from multi-disciplinary team members.
