Dr Alexander Dashwood is a Specialist Cardiologist and experienced in electrophysiology for arrhythmia management and advanced heart failure. He has a particular focus on heart failure patients needing arrhythmia management and device intervention.
Dr Dashwood is experienced in conduction system pacing, cardiac resynchronization, and defibrillator therapy. Additionally, he leverages device- and app-based technologies to enhance heart failure management and improve patient quality of life.
Dr Dashwood completed his cardiology training at The Prince Charles Hospital in Australia, followed by a clinical fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplantation at the same institution. He furthered his specialization through a clinical fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the Victorian Heart Hospital in Melbourne and is currently completing a PhD focused on stress induced arrhythmias in heart failure.
He has authored several peer-reviewed papers in basic science and cardiology journals. Dedicated to education, Dr Dashwood previously served on the CSANZ Education Committee and co-founded the Association of Queensland Advanced Trainees in Cardiology (AQuATIC), a charitable organization supporting the education of future cardiologists.
In addition to holding a staff specialist position at The Prince Charles Hospital, Dr Dashwood continues to provide rural cardiac care with Heart of Australia. He now practices as a cardiologist and electrophysiologist with the Queensland Cardiovascular Group.
Outside of his professional commitments, Dr Dashwood enjoys spending time with his family and playing tennis.
