Dr Conyard is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in upper limb surgery. Dr Conyard completed his orthopaedic training in Queensland, followed by 18 months of sub-specialist training in shoulder, elbow and hand surgery. He holds public hospital appointments at the Princess Alexandra, Redlands and the Queen Elizabeth 2 Hospitals.
After finishing his orthopaedic training, he went on to complete advanced training in hand, wrist and microsurgery, including surgery of the brachial plexus with the Plastic Reconstructive and Hand Surgery Unit based at Middlemore Hospital, NZ. This was followed by the prestigious Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at at the Wrightington Hospital, UK with Professors Adam Watts, Ian Trail and Lennard Funk.
After obtaining degrees in Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology, Dr Conyard completed a medical degree at Griffith University, receiving the award for the top placed student in Critical Care and Orthopaedics, in addition to the Deans Award for finishing in the top 5% of graduates.
Dr Conyard is a passionate advocate of teamwork and leadership in medicine. He has served as the President of the Australian Orthopaedic Registrars Association and held a positions on the Board of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Federal Training Committee. His contribution toward fellow surgical trainees was acknowledged with the the highest award given to an Australian surgical trainee, the John Corboy Medal in 2020
Outside orthopaedics, Dr Conyard is a proud father and husband. He is also the founder of the charity A Million Metres for Melanoma, which has raised over half a million dollars for melanoma patients and holds 2 Guinness world records for endurance events.
