Dr Rebecca Won is a Visiting Medical Officer to both the Plastic Surgical Department and Hand Surgery Unit at Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospitals. She has interests in hand surgery, cosmetic breast surgery and skin cancer surgery.

Dr Won was raised in Brisbane, before graduating from her Medical Degree at the University of Newcastle, and returning to Queensland as a junior doctor. She commenced surgical training as a General Surgeon before completing her Plastic Surgery training in hospitals across Brisbane and Melbourne. After obtaining her FRACS (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery) qualification from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 2013, she elected to sub-specialise. She then obtained the PFET (Post Fellowship Education & Training) in Hand Surgery, from RACS and the Australian Hand Surgical Society in 2017. She was the first Queensland surgeon to obtain, and in 2021 currently remains, the only Plastic Surgeon in Queensland to hold this qualification.

Other professional activities include: 

• Senior lecturer for the Medical School at the University of Queensland
• Regular teaching of Plastic Surgical Trainees at Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital
• Current Chair of the Younger Fellows Committee of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
• Member of the Therapeutic Procedure Committee for the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons
• Member of the Orthopaedic Implementation Liason Group for the Medicare Review Committee
• Recent Past Chair of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons QLD Chapter
• Volunteers with the Independent Doctors Network in assessing the health needs of asylum seekers held in off shore detention.

Dr Won has private consulting suites in Spring Hill, and also consults at Ashgrove and Brookwater.  She regularly contributes to the hand surgery on call roster at both Royal Brisbane Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital.

Dr Won is a good communicator and will always ensure patients are educated about all treatment options so they can choose what is best for them. She whole heartedly believes in informed medical and financial consent, and welcomes phone calls from general practitioners if required.
