Clinical Practice

Dr Katherine Broughton is a Specialist General Surgeon with interest in bowel surgery. She performs a wide range of surgical and colorectal procedures. Always patient-focused with a passion for laparoscopic and open colorectal surgery.  Katherine undertakes hernia, gallbladder, pilonidal surgery as well as colonoscopy and gastroscopy procedures. Dr Broughton is a no-gap surgeon minimising out of pocket costs for patients.

Background & Training

After completing general surgical training in New Zealand and gaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015, Dr Broughton undertook her first year of colorectal training in Perth. She then embarked on two years of UK training (Western General, Edinburgh and Royal Infirmary, Glasgow)  to gain experience in gynae-oncology, advanced pelvic cancers and inflammatory bowel disease.

Research & Education 

Dr Broughton has multiple papers published in improving outcomes in patients undergoing emergency surgery and has spoken at many conferences in the UK and mainland Europe on the topic. She is also available to provide up to date education to GPs and other colleagues.
