Dr Kent is an orthopaedic surgeon who performs surgery of the foot, ankle and complex trauma.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Australian Orthopaedic Association and has participated in both Australian and international sub-speciality fellowship training. Dr Kent completed his medical degree at the University of Newcastle in 2008 and following his junior doctor training and initial orthopaedic posts in Wollongong, moved to Newcastle permanently in 2012. Dr Kent then worked throughout the Hunter region for the next seven years, completing both his basic and advanced orthopaedic training.
He was awarded his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Australian Orthopaedic Association in 2018. Following completion of his training, Dr Kent undertook a foot & ankle fellowship at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane, QLD under the tutelage of Dr Ben Forster & Dr Michael Lutz. Dr Forster is well known nationally for his surgical expertise in managing sports injuries of the foot & ankle, including elite athletes of professional sports teams such as the Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast Suns, Queensland Reds, and North Queensland Cowboys. Dr Lutz has published extensively in the field of syndesmotic injuries and is a highly regarded and internationally published foot & ankle surgeon. Following his time in Brisbane, Dr Kent travelled to work at the internationally regarded St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada. St Michael’s hospital is a Level I trauma centre and located in the 2nd biggest city in North America. Here Dr Kent undertook a trauma, arthroplasty & lower limb reconstruction fellowship. In addition, he had the opportunity & privilege to work with Dr Tim Daniels, regarded as one of the top foot & ankle surgeons in North America, and an expert in total ankle replacement.
Dr Kent has a keen interest in research & has presented multiple times at the Australian Orthopaedic Association Annual Scientific Meeting, as well as the Australian Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society. He has published articles in highly regarded international journals, with his most recent article on the treatment of syndesmotic injuries published in the prestigious European sports journal, 'Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology & Arthroscopy.'
Dr Kent appreciates servicing the foot, ankle, and orthopaedic trauma needs of the region. Dr Kent is also participating in the orthopaedic roster for patients presenting to the Emergency Department at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital.
