Dr Cameron Bell is also a VMO at North Shore Private Hospital, Senior Staff Specialist in Gastroenterology at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney and a Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the Sydney University.  He has a Doctorate of Medicine from Sydney University and is a Fellow of the RACP.

Dr Cameron Bell has an interest in bowel cancer and endoscopic training and quality.

• Is the Chair of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia’s National Endoscopy Training Initiative (NETI) and has been the National Lead for the NETI Train the Colonoscopy Trainer program since 2009, in the process teaching more than 200 consultant physicians and surgeons to train colonoscopy more effectively.

• Has developed two national colonoscopy quality improvement courses for GESA, participated in dozens of colonoscopy quality workshops as convenor & faculty member and convened national ERCP training workshops.

• Chaired the Working Parties, which produced the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Surveillance Colonoscopy for Cancer Council Australia in 2011 and 2019, and was deputy chair of the Cancer Council Australia Working Party, which revised the Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Prevention, Early Detection and Management of Colorectal Cancer, endorsed by the NH&MRC in 2017. 

• A member of the working group, which recently updated the NH&MRC-endorsed Cancer Council national guidelines on CRC screening for average risk Australians and those with a Family History of colorectal cancer. 

• A longstanding member of the Clinical Advisory Group for the Australian National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. 

• Involved in the group which developed the original Colonoscopy Clinical Care Standards and is contributing to their revision for the Australian Commission on Safety & Quality in Health Care.
