Dr Jennie Gu is a General Surgeon with advanced training in Breast and Endocrine Surgery. Dr Gu completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Queensland with Honours in 2009 and worked in many hospitals across Queensland as a junior doctor and subsequent General Surgery Trainee. She developed subspecialty interests in Breast and Endocrine Surgery, after working at the Gold Coast and Robina Hospital Breast Unit during her senior trainee years. After completing her core general surgery training, she was accepted into BreastSurgANZ post-fellowship training in Breast surgery. Her first fellow year at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, Adelaide allowed her to gain significant experience in both breast and endocrine surgery. Her second fellow year, at the Royal Perth Hospital, WA, centred on developing advanced oncoplastic and reconstructive surgical skills in the treatment of breast cancer. Dr Gu returned to Brisbane in 2023 to gain further experience in emergency and elective general surgery and endoscopy, as the Acute Surgical fellow in Ipswich Hospital, and has stayed on as a Consultant Breast, Endocrine and General Surgeon since 2024. Dr Gu has an appointment with BreastScreen Queensland. She is actively involved in the training and education of surgical trainees, junior doctors and medical students. She is currently completing a Masters of Breast Surgery with the University of Sydney. Dr Gu offers treatment in breast surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, general surgery (including laparoscopic procedures, hernias, gallbladders, skin cancer etc) and gastroscopy/colonoscopy
