Dr Poch Malte is a Rehabilitation Medicine Physician. He works as a Visiting Medical Officer at St. Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital and Staff Specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Currently, he is the Deputy Director for the Queensland Spinal Cord Injuries Service, a role he has held since 2014.
Dr Malte completed a degree in Physiotherapy and then went on to further studies in Medicine until he was admitted as a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (Royal Australasian College of Physicians).
Dr Malte is also a Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine, University of Queensland and a Supervisor for Rehabilitation Medicine Trainees. His prior experience includes practice as a Staff Specialist at the Brain Injuries Rehabilitation Service and Conference Convener for the successful Australian and New Zealand Spinal Cord Society Annual Scientific Meeting in 2017.
Dr Malte is a member of the Rehabilitation Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand, the International Spinal Cord Society, has been published, and involves himself with research activities including that of The Hopkins Centre Research for Rehabilitation and Resilience.
By bringing a stellar record of leadership to his roles, Dr. Malte aims to improve individuals’ quality of life by returning them to their daily routine including the ability to participate in meaningful activities at home and in the community. This mission is achieved through a highly collaborative approach with General Practitioners, other Specialists, allied health professionals, and external providers
