Dr Michael Krasovitsky is a medical oncologist physician specialising in the treatment of lung cancers, breast cancers, advanced thyroid cancers, and primary liver cancers. He is the lead of the Kinghorn Cancer Centre Geriatric Oncology program at St Vincent’s Hospital, which focusses on the multidisciplinary care of older individuals with cancer through a multidisciplinary lens. In addition, he specialises in the supportive care of individuals with cancer; this field primarily involves optimising the quality of life of people who may be experiencing complex cancer symptoms or side effects from therapy. He currently works at St Vincent’s Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital, St George Hospital, St George Private Hospital, and The Sutherland Hospital.

Dr Krasovitsky established one of Sydney’s first geriatric oncology services in 2022, and now collaboratively works with nurses, geriatricians, and allied health professionals to optimally treat older individuals with cancer. The geriatric oncology program receives referrals from oncologists, surgeons, physicians, general practitioners, and radiation oncologists, and involves assessment of the best treatment pathways for older individuals. Dr Krasovitsky sits on the executive committee of the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia’s Geriatric Oncology group, and is also chair of the Geriatric Oncology Emerging Experts and Researcher’s group. He is an active member of a number of international groups working in geriatric oncology, and is also a prominent figure in geriatric oncology training & research in Australia. He has presented nationally and internationally on older age oncology.
Dr Krasovitsky completed a Bachelor of Arts & Languages in 2010, and subsequently went on to achieve a first-class Honours in French history. He graduated from the Australian National University Medical School in 2013, where he again received first class honours and was awarded the Graham Wilkinson prize for Dux of medicine. He completed a Diploma of Child Health in 2015, where he primarily specialised in cancers affecting children. He achieved a Master of International Public Health with distinction in 2021, where he focussed on biostatistics and models of care to care for older individuals with cancer. He completed his physicians training in 2021; his training was primarily through Prince of Wales Hospital, St George Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital, with secondments to Lismore Hospital and Port Macquarie Base Hospital. He has also done higher training through Johns Hopkins University in clinical trial design and biostatistics.
Dr Krasovitsky is involved in a number of international and national trials primarily in the fields of older age oncology and supportive care for individuals with cancer. His research primarily focuses on geriatric oncology, particularly the impact of ageism on cancer systems of care.
Dr Krasovitsky is proud to practice holistic, patient-focussed cancer care, and has a particular passion for looking after older individuals with cancer, as well as individuals affected by breast, lung, thyroid and liver cancers. He has worked extensively with the AIDS Council of NSW (ACON), and is proud to look after many members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
