Dr Jonathan Tan graduated from the University of Melbourne and completed his gastroenterology training in various tertiary hospitals in Melbourne before pursuing his passion in Interventional Endoscopy at the Alfred Hospital Melbourne. During his time at The Alfred, Jonathan facilitated in the completion of various clinical trials and presented his work at various international landmark Gastroenterology conferences. Jonathan then embarked on a one-year overseas Fellowship in interventional/advanced Endoscopy at the University of British Columbia which enabled him to further refine his skills in ERCP and EUS in this renowned liver transplant centre in Vancouver, Canada.

Since returning to Melbourne, Jonathan holds a public appointment at the Box Hill Hospital as one of the senior visiting medical staff and is also currently involved in actively teaching junior medical trainees within this hospital.

Jonathan sees patients with all forms of gut-related problems and holds clinical interests in managing pancreas-biliary related diseases and colorectal cancer screening/prevention. For his patient’s convenience, Dr Tan offers consultations and performs endoscopy procedures at various locations within the eastern areas of Melbourne.

Urgent appointments (both consultation and endoscopy) can be accommodated upon request by the referring practitioner. Jonathan is also in fluent Chinese/ Mandarin.

In his free time, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children exploring various nature walks and discovering good cafes around town.
