DR BERNADETTE EATHER
will be joining the Ramsay
Australia Executive Team
as the National Manager of
Clinical Quality and Patient
Safety in 2018.
Bernadette is currently the
NSW Director of Patient
Safety with the Clinical
Excellence Commission
(CEC). In this role, Bernadette
has been responsible for
state-wide clinical incident
management and review
programs and developing
clinical frameworks, clinical
governance support
programs and other systems
to improve the safety and
quality of healthcare within
NSW Health. Along with
the role of NSW Director of
Patient Safety, she previously
held several clinical,
operational and clinical
governance positions in NSW
Health, including Director
of Clinical Support for the
Southern Health Reform
Transition Organisation,
and the Area Director of
Clinical Governance for the
former North Sydney Central
Coast Area Health Service.
Bernadette has extensive
experience in medical
workforce management
and credentialing of senior
medical officers in her role
as the Director of Clinical
Services for Sutherland
Hospital, a position she
held for two years. She
also acted in the capacity
as General Manager for the
Central Hospital Network
and the Illawarra Shoalhaven
Hospitals’ Network.
Bernadette is an accredited
surveyor with the ACHS
and has a comprehensive
understanding of
accreditation requirements.
Just prior to her current role
at the CEC, she held the
role of National Director,
Health, Human Services and
Ageing, for KPMG for five
years. During this time, she
undertook a broad range of
national and international
clinical governance
projects, reviews and policy
development.
Bernadette has a strong
commitment to education
and training and regularly
lectures at Sydney University,
University of Technology
Sydney and Notre Dame
University to undergraduate
and Masters level students.
She was a featured presenter
at The International Society
for Quality in Health Care
(ISQua) Conference in
London last month. Coupled
with several international
conference presentations
and abstracts, she has also
published in international
peer reviewed journals on
patient safety and clinical
quality.
Bernadette holds a Masters
in Health Management
from the University of New
England. Her Doctoral
studies in Patient Safety at
the University of Technology
Sydney focussed on the
recognition and management
of the deteriorating patient.
She is currently undertaking
a Masters in Health and
Medical Law at the University
of Melbourne in order to gain
further understanding of
health practitioner regulation,
medical ethics and critical
incident management.
Jude has been the CEO
of The Noosa Hospital for
the past four years. This
is a private facility with a
substantial public contract
to provide public and
private services including
Emergency, ICU, medical
and surgical services. Jude
has expanded services and
grown activity at the hospital
during her time there as well
as maintaining excellent
relationships with the local
health service who manage
the public contract. Prior
to Noosa, Jude was CEO of
Mt Wilga, gaining extensive
experience in rehab services.
She has also held executive
nursing positions at St
George and Greenslopes
Private Hospitals.
St Andrew’s is currently
being transformed with
a new ICU, emergency
centre and expanded
surgical, rehabilitation and
maternity services. Jude’s
extensive experience
means she is well-placed to
manage and deliver on this
redevelopment.
Jude commences at
St Andrews on January 29th
2018.
CHRIS WENT
has been appointed as the
Chief Executive Officer,
Greenslopes Private
Hospital.
For the past seven years
Chris has been the CEO
of St Andrew’s Ipswich
Private Hospital. In that
role, she built strong
relationships with doctors,
staff and the community
and has established St
Andrew’s as a quality
provider of health care
to the Ipswich and West
Moreton area. Chris was
successful in developing
the business case for the
major redevelopment of
St Andrew’s, including an
emergency department,
new rehabilitation centre,
refurbished maternity unit
and additional beds and
theatres. Her vision for the
development will result
in her time at St Andrew’s
being indelibly stamped on
the hospital’s future.
Chris is returning to
Greenslopes as CEO,
having previously been
NUM of the Emergency
Department and
Assistant Director of
Clinical Services. Chris’s
background is in nursing
and she has post graduate
qualifications in cardiology,
emergency and business.
Chris has represented
the private sector on
the Queensland Clinical
Senate for the past three
years, and was a member
of the Department of
Health Patient Safety
Board for three years.
Chris has also represented
the Australian Private
Hospitals Association on
the Queensland Clinical
Education and Training
Council.
MARIA RICE
has been appointed Director
of Clinical Services at Mt
Wilga Private Hospital. Maria
has worked at North Shore
Private Hospital since 2007.
Her position was Assistant
Director of Clinical Services.
In this role she managed
a diverse portfolio of
Quality, Risk Management,
Infection Control, WHS,
Bed Management, CMOs,
Allied Health, Research and
Education for the hospital.
Prior to this Maria had roles
as the Patient Flow Manager
and Nurse Unit Manager of
the Neurosurgery Ward.
Maria is a Registered nurse
with a Gradate Diploma
in Neurosurgery and
Nursing Management.
Maria’s experience in
neurosurgery and passion
for falls prevention has been
demonstrated in her three
month secondment as Acting
Director of Clinical Services
at Mt Wilga where she has
proven to be an approachable
and knowledgeable member
of the executive team.
RENEE
DURRANT
has been appointed
Director of Finance and
Corporate Services, Peel
Health Campus.
Renee is a former financial
controller at Peel Health
Campus under the previous
operator, and served for a
period in various resource
industries from 2012 to
2015. Renee returned as
the Finance Manager at
Peel Health Campus in
2015. Since that time she
has overseen multiple
improvements including
bedding down of VIM, the
introduction of MyTime
and centralised payroll
and Peel’s migration to
the billing hub for private
health fund billing. Renee
has been acting in the
Director of Finance &
Corporate Services role
since July 2017. Renee has
a Bachelor of Commerce, is
a CPA and has a Masters in
Construction Law.
STEVEN RAJCANY
currently CEO of Kareena
Private Hospital has now
added CEO of Lawrence
Hargarve Private Hospital
to his portfolio following the
retirement of Robyn Ashe
who was at the hospital for
30 years.
Steven has strong
experience managing both
regional and metropolitan
hospitals, having held CEO
positions at other Ramsay
facilities since 2008. During
his career, Steven has
commissioned and managed
a variety of private hospital
services including surgical,
medical, rehabilitation,
mental health and maternity.
He is currently also the CEO
of Kareena Private Hospital
and Kingsway Day Surgery
in the Sutherland Shire.
JUDE EMMER
has been appointed to the
position of CEO, St Andrew’s
Ipswich Private Hospital.
STUART MCBRIEN
has been appointed
Chief Operating Officer of
Ramsay Pharmacy. Stuart
has most recently been
the Chief Executive Officer
of Malouf Pharmacies (18
stores in Queensland)
where he expanded the
business turnover more than
tenfold. Malouf Pharmacies
have recently joined
the Ramsay Pharmacy
Franchise Network. Stuart
is a chartered accountant
with a B.Comm from ANU
majoring in accounting and
IT. He also has an MBA
from QUT. He was a KMPG
alumni and spent 10 years
there before commencing at
Malouf. He has lectured in
both business and pharmacy
faculties at QUT.

ADURTY RAO
has been appointed to the
position of National HR Manager,
Ramsay Australia. In this role,
Adurty will join the Ramsay
Australia Executive Team and
replace Keith Richardson, who
is staying on with Ramsay but
moving to a part-time role within
National HR.
Adurty has been part of the
Ramsay group for over two
years. During this time and
in her role as Corporate
HR Manager, Adurty has
formed strong relationships
with Corporate and Hospital
Executives and providing
sound HR advice and support
to the business.
Through her collaborative
approach, Adurty has led
many value-adding strategic
HR initiatives like the Ramsay
Leadership Program,
employee engagement,
succession management,
review of library services and
more recently the design of
the Front Line Leadership
Development program.
In her new role as National HR
Manager, Adurty will lead the
HR team and be responsible
for all HR matters including,
recruitment, employee
engagement, learning and
development (including the
Ramsay Training Institute),
workforce planning, clinical
workforce management,
talent management, change
management, succession
planning, HR policy and
employment & industrial
relations.
Prior to joining Ramsay,
Adurty served many HR
leadership roles within the
hospital and aged care sector
over the last 10 years.
