Ramsay drought
helpers assist Central
Queensland grazier
Ramsay pharmacy and hospital team members
have rallied together and rolled up their
sleeves to help a drought-affected grazier near
Rockhampton in Central Queensland.
The charitable convoy travelled 160 kilometres west of
Rockhampton to ‘Charlevue’ – a 16,900-hectare property
at Dingo – to volunteer their services for the day.
A dozen team members from Hillcrest Rockhampton
Private Hospital and Ramsay Pharmacy Rockhampton
helped property owner Jane Saunders with some
of the jobs she does every day to help deal with the
devastating drought, including feeding cattle and
checking water troughs.
The team were also joined by a group of diesel
mechanics and boiler makers, who helped with
servicing machinery, rebuilding cattle feeders,
unpacking hay and feeding 300 poddy calves.
The Ramsay team made sure everyone was well-fed,
providing morning tea and lunch for all involved who
gave up their time to lend a hand.

Greenslopes theatre assistant helps
to save man’s life at Brisbane gym
A theatre assistant has used his training at Greenslopes Private Hospital to help administer first aid
to a man who collapsed at a Brisbane gym.
Jack Stilwell initially thought Greg Darrington had tripped
over during a regular work-out session.
Within seconds the 21-year-old realised something was
seriously wrong: the man was having a heart attack.
Jack immediately took action, starting to perform CPR
straight away using the gym’s automated external
defibrillator (AED) until paramedics arrived.
Jack said the reason he was able to act so quickly and keep
a level head was due to his work at Greenslopes Private
Hospital over the past four years.
“There were a lot of people at the gym, but I knew I had to
take charge and get it started and thankfully I did,” he said.
Mr Darrington thanked the theatre assistant when the pair
were recently reunited.
Ramsay Pharmacy’s beauty workshop breaks
down barriers in Rockhampton
Ramsay Pharmacy in Rockhampton has hosted a motivational self-care workshop for young women in the
community, teaching them skin care tips and techniques.
Teenagers aged from 12–18 years interacted with the
pharmacy’s Clarins consultant, learning personal skin care
routines and how to correctly use face scrubs and masks.
The motivational workshop was hosted in conjunction with
the Darumbal Community Youth Service, which runs a six-week
program called Maru Gadyu.
Maru Gadyu is designed for young women who are
homeless or at risk of homelessness, to stabilise and
improve their housing situation, achieve family reconciliation
and improve their engagement with education, training,
employment and the community.
Ramsay Pharmacy Rockhampton’s Retail Manager, Toni
Cowan, said: “At Ramsay Pharmacy, we are all about
engaging with our community and supporting our youth.”
“Judging by the amount of laughter coming from the beauty
room, it was very clear the young teens thoroughly enjoyed
their experience at Ramsay Pharmacy. Our cosmetics
team very much look forward to hosting more of these
motivational workshops with the Darumbal Community
Youth Service,” Ms Cowan said.
