FESTIVE FOOD FOR
CHARITY
Three Ramsay hospitals in Victoria have helped to
feed more than 700 families at Christmastime by
donating to a local charity.
The Avenue Hospital, Masada Private Hospital
and Glenferrie Private Hospital have a long
history of supporting the Prahran Mission, which
provides emergency relief services to those
experiencing poverty, homelessness and economic
disadvantage.
Catering manager Brett Paulka led the initiative to
collect unused and unopened non-perishable food
items left from meal service – such as cereals and
condiments – which would usually go to landfill.
In addition, the hospitals’ Christmas donation drive
filled 31 Prahran Mission charity boxes with non-perishable
food goods and hygiene items.

ON 'DROUGHT RUN'
FOR CHARITY
A nurse unit manager at Warners Bay Private Hospital has donated
to a local Christmas drought run to assist communities in need.
Sheree Rogers, who works in the hospital’s Recovery and Day
Surgery Unit, decided to gift water, baby wipes and insect
repellent via a local aid group called “The Little Juddies”.
“The Little Juddies” is a family of six from the Hunter region in
New South Wales who have set up a Facebook page to assist
people in need.
Sheree’s donation was facilitated through Lynn Nancarrow,
another staff member who works in the theatre complex at
Warners Bay Private Hospital.
Lynn and her husband Steve have spent the past few months
collecting and distributing goods to communities through “The
Little Juddies”.

BECOME ‘CHRISTMAS
ELVES’
“Be An Elf” is a registered charity that helps
disadvantaged children, teens and their families.
It focuses on 0–18 year olds who are in most need
of emotional and psychological support, physical
safety and housing and items that meet their basic
living and schooling needs.
Each Christmas, the charity asks children and
teens to write wish list letters to
Santa, which is then filled by
generous donors.

45 letters in time for
Christmas 2019.

MT WILGA SENDS
FOOD TO HELP
DROUGHT-AFFECTED
FARMERS
Staff from Mt Wilga Private Hospital have donated
just over 103 kilograms of food and personal goods to
drought-stricken farmers.
Dozens of workers brought in non-perishable food
items and placed them under the hospital’s Christmas
tree to donate through Foodbank, Australia’s largest
hunger relief organisation.
The hospital also provided a large box of personal items
including soaps, creams, nappies, and feminine hygiene
products such as shampoo and conditioner.
Mt Wilga Private Hospital arranged for a total of 13
boxes to be transported to Foodbank’s distribution
centre so they could be delivered to farming
communities in need.
