Dr Sebastian Ranguis is a certified Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor), Head and Neck Surgeon with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) with advanced training in Paediatric (Children) Otolaryngology. He completed the prestigious international fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada accredited by the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology (ASPO). Dr Sebastian Ranguis specialises in complex airway surgery, adult and paediatric head and neck surgery, rhinology and otology.
Dr Ranguis holds surgical supervisor positions at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, the Northern Beaches Hospital and the Central Coast Area Health Service. As well as providing the full array of ENT surgeries to patients at these hospitals he plays an active role in teaching ENT surgical trainees. He is very busy providing on call duties for NSW Health covering a wide geographical region for patients in need of emergent and critical ENT services. Dr Ranguis’ interests include paediatric and adult airway surgery, otology, rhinology, head and neck surgery, and facial plastic surgery including rhinoplasty and otoplasty.
Throughout his training Dr Ranguis has worked at prestigious hospitals in New South Wales including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital and St. Vincent’s Hospital. Dr Ranguis has presented research nationally and internationally on airway surgery, lateral and anterior skull base surgery, otology and cochlear implantation. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and authored book chapters on skull base surgery. He has won several international awards including the Harry Barberian Scholarship 2020 (Universtiry of Toronto) and the SENTAC Academic Bowl Prize 2020 (San Diego, California). He completed his Masters of Medicine in clinical epidemiology at the University of Sydney in 2011 following the completion of his medical degree at the University of New South Wales in 2007.
Dr Sebastian Ranguis is focused on providing evidence-based medicine through care tailored specifically for his patients. He ensures that his consultations are given plenty of time so that his patients, together with their supports, are able to fully address all their concerns. When he is not tending to his patients Sebastian loves spending time with his family, going to the park with his young daughter and keeping fit through ocean swimming.
