I completed my undergraduate degree in medicine at the University of the Free State, South Africa in 1997 before coming to Australia in 2003. I then commenced specialist training as a sports physician at the Brisbane Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre, and subsequently at Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre in Melbourne. I completed my fellowship as a Sports and Exercise Physician in 2008. I went on to develop an interest in chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions especially chronic spinal pain, chronic groin and shoulder pain.

I sub-specialised in interventional pain management completing all the modules of the Spine Intervention Society and was awarded a fellowship from the World Institute of Pain as a Fellow of Interventional Pain Proceduralists. Over the past 10 years I have spent most of my time treating chronic musculoskeletal conditions. I am passionate about making an accurate diagnosis and then providing a management plan allowing patients to return to a better life. Restoration of movement in my opinion is the key to treating chronic pain conditions. I perform all diagnostic and therapeutic pain interventions for chronic pain conditions including neuromodulation to manage chronic neuropathic pain. I also provide assessment of acute pain presentations, specifically providing early epidural interventions for acute radicular pain.
