Dr Abeyratne is a specialist geriatrician / physician who is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine.

He has a wealth of experience, having worked in acute, sub-acute, and community settings in Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka since his primary qualification in Sri Lanka in 1996. Dr Abeyratne has been living and working on the Sunshine Coast since 2010.

He is a Visiting Medical Officer at Nambour Selangor Private Hospital.
