Born and raised in Sydney he worked as an actuarial analyst and a mathematics teacher prior to commencing medical training through the University of Sydney. He then undertook his junior medical training within the Mid North Coast Local Health District.

Following this he moved to Canberra to pursue his basic anaesthetic training and then on to Hunter New England Health for his advanced training.

In addition to private practice Dr Brunsdon holds a VMO position at Port Macquarie Base Hospital and is an Associate Conjoint Lecturer in medicine at the UNSW Rural Clinical School.

Outside the hospital setting he enjoys travelling, surfing and chasing after his children .
