Dr Andrew French graduated from the University of Sydney in 2001 and completed his cardiology advanced training at St George and Sutherland Hospitals.
He completed his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the Prince of Wales Hospital where he obtained extensive skills in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), rotational atherectomy, CTO intervention and false aneurysm repair.
Dr French has been working as an Interventional Cardiologist for Orange Health Service where he was also the Director of the Cath Lab. In this position, he performed over 1100 PCI cases, >1500 angiograms and developed a 24-hour primary and rescue PCI service. Dr French also supervised interventional fellowship trainees as part of this senior role.
He moved to Port Macquarie in March 2017 to take up a newly appointed position of Interventional Cardiologist for the Mid North Coast Local Health District in Port Macquarie Base Hospital and local district.

Dr French has contributed to numerous research publications including Delays in Treatment of Rural STEMI, Providing Primary and Rescue PCI in a Rural Base Hospital: A review of the first 24/7 Service in NSW and many more. He is also an examiner for the FRACP examinations and is committed to teaching and passing on his skills and knowledge to the next generation of doctors. Dr French is dedicated to improving the delivery of regional cardiology services, thereby reducing cardiac morbidity and mortality by continually evaluating and improving performance.
