Dr David Dilley is an orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in hand surgery. Dr Dilley has 30 years of surgical experience in acute and chronic hand conditions with a special interest in Dupuytren’s Contracture, hand arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and wrist problems. Dr Dilley obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of NSW before further surgical training at Concord Repatriation, Royal North Shore, Westmead, Camperdown Children’s, Wollongong and Liverpool Hospitals.
He completed a further year of specialist training in hand and microsurgery at the Kleinert Institute and University of Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
He was then consultant orthopaedic surgeon with experience in hand surgery, for Westmead Public Hospital and St George Public Hospital, before moving into the private hospital system.
He now operates at St George Private Hospital and Strathfield Private Hospital, and consults at Harris Park, Gymea, Strathfield and Concord.
Dr Dilley has a special interest in Dupuytren’s Contracture, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, wrist problems and treats a range of hand conditions from the common to the complex.
Dr Dilley has lectured in orthopaedic surgery at the University of NSW and is published in peer-review journals such as The Journal of Hand Surgery and co-authored the chapter on hand injuries in the Oxford Handbook of Sports Medicine.
He works closely with a dedicated multidisciplinary hand team including hand therapists, experienced nurses and other specialists who commonly deal with hand conditions.
Outside medicine he has been involved with cricket administration at state and national level and was a Sydney Premier grade umpire for more than 15 years. These days he bushwalks and takes a keen interst in native plants and their uses.
