Dr Nishlan Pillay is an Australian trained consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist. Dr Pillay graduated in Medicine from the University of Sydney. He completed his gastroenterology and hepatology training in the renowned endoscopy and liver units at Westmead Hospital and completed a further year at Bankstown Hospital. He has been a Staff specialist at Blacktown Hospital and provides an ongoing Locum Gastroenterologist service at Lismore Base hospital.
Dr Pillay has a broad range of interests encompassing all aspects of gastroenterology and liver diseases, with a particular interest in colorectal cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease and functional gastrointestinal disorders including IBS and motility disorders. His practice encompasses the management of reflux disease (including Helicobacter Pylori resistance), the investigation of abnormal liver tests and the management of chronic liver disease,
Dr Pillay is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP). He has been granted accreditation in colonoscopy and gastroscopy by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association and a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD).
Dr Pillay consults at Regional Specialists Tamworth and provides no gap endoscopy procedures for self-funded and privately insured patients at Tamara Private Hospital in Tamworth and Lakeview Private and Strathfield Private Hospitals as well as Burwood Endoscopy Centre in Sydney.
