Dr Toby Angstmann undertook training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Sydney at Royal North Shore Hospital. He subsequently worked in Canberra and established a fertility practice with Genea. Gynaecology-related aspects of this practice included minimally invasive options with a full suite of robotic and endosurgical treatments available. After a working sabbatical in the Northern Territory and rural Australia, Dr Angstmann relocated to Melbourne in 2019 and has been working in a variety of senior clinical and leadership roles. He is a RANZCOG training supervisor and site accreditation team leader.
Dr Angstmann believes that in tackling any medical problem, it is important to consider the full spectrum of treatment options. Surgery, whilst always an answer, is not always the answer. He believes in complementary approaches and in forming therapeutic partnerships and teams. There are highly effective medical and non-surgical options for a range of gynaecological conditions. When appropriate, Dr Angstmann will present surgical options that use the most appropriate minimally invasive technique.
He has a clinical interest in both laparoscopic and hysteroscopic fertility related procedures. This includes excisional procedures for endometriosis. As well as fertility procedures Toby provides expert laparoscopic or robotic hysterectomy.
Dr Angstmann remains active in medical education at all levels and has presented research both nationally and internationally.
