Dr Xu gradiated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2007 before attending medical school at Monash University. Kay graduated from medical school in 2011 and underwent her physician training at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney. 

Following physician  training, Kay underwent specialist training in medical oncology through the Kinghorn Cancer Centre, Macarthur Cancer Centre and was a fellow at the Melanoma Insitute of Austalia. She completed her specialty training and was admitted to the fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2020 and then moved to Albury in 2021.

Throughout her training Kay has gained considerable experience in specialist breast cancer and melaoma clinics, and in managing patients on clinical trials. Kay is currently undergoing a Masters of Biostatistics through the University of Sydney. Kay treats all solid organ malignancies and has particular interest in breast cancer, melanoma and cancers of genitourinary tract.
